Relationships, Dating and disability

Journeying through adolescence and into young adulthood, can present many challenges. For example, what college to choose, which university, whether to leave home or what career path to follow?

If you have a physical disability, these hurdles may prove even more challenging but not insurmountable.
Some young disabled people also find the thought of dating and having a relationship daunting. Actually, most young people do!!

”Does he/she fancy or even like me”?

“Should I ask them out’?

“What do I do if they want to get physical”?

These are just a few questions that you may ask yourself?

There are several supportive websites that specialise in advising those with disabilities around relationships and dating. There are websites that put disabled singles in touch with each other; there are thousands of dating sites full stop! There is a big world out there with many people looking to date or develop a relationship. How you choose to meet people is entirely your choice. How you feel about your disability and your attitude to life will shine through to those that you meet. If you are comfortable in your skin, those that are worth developing relationships with will be too!
