Recruitment for Phase Two Clinical Trial now fully open

 10th Jun 2011

With support from the French Muscular Dystrophy Association and the involvement of clinicians in the search for new treatments, Trophos is developing olesoxime (TRO19622) for treatment of Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

A phase 2 clinical trial is now open for recruitment of patients in several European Countries, including the UK, with the objective to assess efficacy and the safety of olesoxime in patients with SMA Type 2 and Type 3. This trial concerns non-ambulant patients from 3 to 25 years and other inclusion and exclusion criteria apply. All three sites in the UK (Birmingham, London and Newcastle) are now open and recruitment has started. Birmingham and London are recruiting children only (3 to 18 years old) while Newcastle is recruiting children and adults (3 to 25 years old). Newcastle has more spaces left than Birmingham and London.

Patients considering participating in the trial need to come forward in June as TROPHOS anticipate that recruitment will end in July.

To date, more than 100 SMA patients have been recruited across the European sites, with no serious problems reported.

For further details, follow the link to view and download the invitation letter, which lists inclusion and exclusion criteria plus contact details for the three UK centres running the trials.

If you have any further questions about any aspect of the trial or eligibility for the trial, please contact one of the three centres direct - contact details are in the invitation letter.
