Hope for Tomorrow has been an important part of The Jennifer Trust mission since its creation in April 1985. In the words of Anita Macaulay who founded The Jennifer Trust:
"I remember asking what was happening in the research field for this condition and he (the Consultant) told me that it was so rare no one was researching into it. That was my final hope destroyed - while Jennifer was alive and there was research underway I had hope, but to be told that there was no such work made me realise that even my hope was gone"
25 years on, the picture is very different. Whilst there is still no effective treatment or a cure, researchers have a greater understanding of what causes SMA, and research is taking place in many laboratories in the UK and the rest of the world.
The Jennifer Trust is very proud to have contributed to the funding of some of the most groundbreaking, innovative and important achievements in SMA research over the past 25 years.
In the Research Section you will find information about our research strategy, our ongoing research projects, and up-to-date articles and information on new developments in the SMA research field.
