Current Question Need for and provision of hoists in hotels
I have recently began a project which should prove there is currently a lack of hoist provision in accessible hotel rooms because there are no rules that state this as a reasonable adjustment. Our aim is to provide the facts and figures to persuade the hotel industry and other accommodation providers (e.g. conference centres) to install hoists as standard in their accessible rooms.

It would be helpful if I could be informed if you are interested in the project.

We have travelled extensively for business and pleasure in the UK and never come across a hoist. I would be interested in taking part.

i too really struggle with lack of hoists when travelling for work and pleasure. i usually end up taking my own hoist which is hard work and rules out travelling by train. i know two hotels in london which have ceiling track hoists but they are extremely expensive. so i am very interested in moves for them to be regarded as a reasonable adjustment

We are also aiming to promote the wider provision of ceiling track hoists in hotels. We have a new website dedicated to assembling information from around the world to give disabled people a single source of information on this type of accommodation. www.CHuC.org.uk Initial results from around the world would indicate that the UK is a world leader in this type of provision!!!
