Philip

Philip
By Susan Hoare

Susan has kindly offered to share her poem about her 3 year old son Philip who has SMA Type 2:

When I first saw your eyes staring up at me,
Big, blue and round,
My heart was overwhelmed,
The love that I felt can not compare,

The first time you ever smiled,
My heart wanted to burst,
The joy that I felt can not compare,

But then something was wrong,
And there were no first steps,
My heart wanted to break,

The first tests you had,
Confirmed what you have,
Something that can not go away,
The pain that I felt can never compare,

Now when I see your eyes looking up at me,
My heart says it's not fair,
But then you smile once more,
And that can never compare
