Volunteering for the Jennifer Trust

The Jennifer Trust welcomes all sorts of voluntary help - if you would like to give us some of your time, we can use your skills and talents!

  • Contact Network Volunteers - people with personal experience of SMA. These volunteers are trained and supported by a Co-ordinator based at the JTSMA office, these volunteers provide invaluable support and information to other families affected by SMA through a telephone network. Their own experiences and perspectives are invaluable, and enable the Trust to meet the needs of those affected. The country is divided into cluster groups. We are always seeking volunteers to fill the gaps in groups where there is not an individual or family contact with a specific type of SMA.
  • 'Cluster Group' activities - Members of each cluster group around the British Isles, co-ordinate events during each year. These not only provide immense enjoyment to the families affected by SMA, but also promote awareness and fundraising opportunities for the Jennifer Trust. You may wish to participate in these events, providing particular skills, knowledge or even facilities and equipment, to ensure the event is a success. So if you bake a deadly chocolate cake, can offer your beautiful garden for an event, or simply wish to give up an afternoon of your time to offer support - then we would like to hear from you!
  • Occasional Volunteer - as an occasional volunteer, you may participate in such events as coffee mornings, assist at the annual conference or sell Christmas cards. You may choose to help on these occasions perhaps once or twice a year. Although you may not volunteer often, your contribution is essential and will be much appreciated by the Trust
  • Regular Volunteer - as a regular volunteer you may take on a particular task on an ongoing basis, a lot of these opportunities are likely to be based at the JTSMA office in Stratford Upon Avon.

If you are interested in knowing more about any of the above opportunities please contact us - we would love to hear from you.

  • Become a Trustee - The Jennifer Trust has a Board of Trustees who are responsible for the
governance of the Trust. Our aim is to have a board that is made up of a cross section of  the types
of SMA and with a range of skills which will bring expertise to the board.

If you are interested  please contact Anita Macaulay or the chairman for more information. If you would like more information on the role and responsibilities of becoming a charity trustee, the charity Commission publish a wide range of fact sheets and information on a range of subjects available at www.charity-commission.gov.uk.
