The Outreach Service was set up in 2006 with funding
from the Big Lottery. The original remit was for two full time outreach workers to visit newly diagnosed Type 1 and Type 2 families throughout the UK. The service quickly became popular with families and the health and social care professionals who work with them. The Outreach Service won the Big Lottery Best Health Project award in 2009. This success led to us securing a further four years funding from 2010. The service now has one full time and two part time workers. The remit has widened to include all types of SMA.
