History of the Jennifer TrustThe Jennifer Trust was founded in 1985 by Anita Macaulay following the death of her daughter Jennifer at the age of 7 months from Type 1 SMA. Anita was told the condition was so rare there was no research being done and that there were possibly only a few other families with a child affected by the condition in the country.
Anita initially made contact with other families through a Mother & Baby Magazine, and from this very small beginning the organisation has grown into a professional organisation with an office based in Stratford and a network of volunteers providing information and support throughout the UK.
Over the past 25 years there have been many people who have come into contact with the Jennifer Trust, some for a very short space of time and others for a number of years. Many have served as a Contact Volunteer or Trustee ¬or both; others as members of staff, or through other organisations. All have played their part in shaping the Trust and helping the organisation grow and adapt to meet the changing needs of the people who come to us. Trying to recall all of them is not possible. There are however a few key people who you can read about as well as finding out more about our achievements over the years.
