A sponsored climb to the peak of Kilimanjaro on 25-30th August 2002 By Simon and Andrea Watson
As many people have been so kind as to sponsor Andrea and I on our climb of Kilimanjaro we thought we would send a few photo's to you all: as proof we did it and also to share the challenge.

We started the climb on the 25th. Our group of 5 were supported by 9 porters, 1 cook, 2 assistant guides and a lead guide.

The guys were tremendous and looked after us fantastically, greeting us with hot water after the first day (seven hours in the mud) and carrying everything including the kitchen sink."

| The Tropical Rain Forest |
Most days started by knocking the ice of the tent flaps followed by breakfast (porridge, pancakes, sausage & eggs) and seven or eight hours climbing.

The summit day was a little more difficult, being woken at 11.00PM after a full day already; we started the last 3000 feet at midnight.

| The Glacial summit (6.45 AM) Uhuru Peak |
The air between 16500 and 19500 feet is thin and toward the top it is difficult to believe that 10 paces slows you down to a crawl

Thanks again to you all, when we have collected all the sponsorship we should have raised in the area of £3500 ! Simon and Andrea Watson
