Brief Itinerary

DAY 1: Fly London - Reykjavik

DAY 2: After an early breakfast a detailed briefing will be given before the journey to Mt Hekla. Upon arrival there will be a 3 hour trek, taking in views of lava flows left over from the last eruptions that took place.

Geothermal Springs - Mt Hekla

DAY 3: Trekking (approx 6 hrs) over grassy meadows, past rocky peaks and into stunning gorges. En route there will be stunning views of lakes and the lava-fields of Domadalshraun; mountains of Landmannalauger. The day will finish with the opportunity of relaxing in some hot springs to soak any aches away!

DAY 4: Possibly the most challenging day trekking (approx 9 hours) between bizarre, seemingly unnatural rock structures, past geothermal activity in the form of steaming vents and hot springs. A lot of the morning is spent climbing across snowfields left from the Icelandic winter, before the descent over rolling ridges of solidified lava. The views are tremendous.

DAY 5: An easier days trek (approx 6 hours) across the predominantly flat area of the mighty Myrdalsjokull Glacier. During the trek you will wade through the icy stream that skirts the camp and descend through meandering gullies onto a dusty volcanic plain.

DAY 6: Stunning views of three separate glaciers reward today's 8-hour trek along the Markarfljot's canyon. The route drops down into valleys, before the return ascent where your feet will get a shock in the icy Pronga River!

DAY 7: The final days trekking (approx 5 hours) is spent hiking out of the Porsmork Valley along the Krossa River.  The scenery is spectacular and there is a chance to see a hidden valley along the way! The evening is spent celebrating your achievements in Reykjavik!

DAY 8: Free Day in Reykjavik

DAY 9: Fly back to the UK
