Roy Twycross has organised this fantastic event, to be held in Dorset, at the Wyevale Garden Centre in Owermoigne, on the main A352 between Dorchester and Wareham.
What to Expect
The day will open at 10.00am and run through the day giving passenger rides up and down the A352 until 4.00pm. You can expect to see 15-20 Ferraris!
The organisers ask for a "minimum donation" of £10. This will get people an approximate 10 minute ride out onto the A352 and and beyond. Roy is hoping that this year's event will see around £2500-£3000 raised.
As well as the Ferraris, there will be:
- Children's roundabout rides provided by Wyevale Garden Centre,
- A Dorset Police "Squad Car" or Police motorbike on display during lunch time,
- Some fantastic raffle prizes,
- JTSMA merchandise including: badges, t-shirts, teddy bears, and coffee mugs.
There will be a display of JTSMA information and collecting tins on each of the check-outs and with the restaurant counter. The tractor/lawnmower sales and workshop department (situated just inside the gate at the site) will be flying the JTSMA banner on their flagpoles on the day together with bunting - really "putting the flags out" for the JTSMA!
Roy has been working hard since last year to promote the JTSMA and is looking forward to welcoming members and families on the day. The Wyevale Garden Centre, are kindly helping by providing roped-off areas of the car-park for the Ferrari Owners Club members on the day and a buffet-style lunch provided for club members and staff and help with promoting the event.
If the event is as successful as Roy and the JTSMA hope, the sterling efforts of Roy and the Ferrari Owners Club members will have seen a total of around £10,000 raised through the Ride in a Ferrari days since starting in 1999.

History of the Event
The Ride in a Ferrari days have steadily raised more and more each year since starting in 1999 when there were 8 Ferrari cars and £180 was raised for the then Muscular Dystrophy Group. In 2000, there was more advertising, an event supporter to pay the expenses incurred, and £1110 was raised. 2001 saw a great turnout of 20 cars and raised £2825 with the help of BP and Charities Aid through a member of the Ferrari Owners Club.
In 2002, after raising over £4,000 for what is now the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, the day saw a best ever turnout of 24 Ferraris and a loyal returning fan base with proceeds of £3070 rasied for the local Wessex Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (ASBAH).
Roy Twycross (left in picture) was presented with Prancing Horse Register award for 2002 at the 2003 Ferrari Owners' Club Annual General Meeting and Prizegiving for his fundraising efforts in aid of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign and the Wessex Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. The award of a pennant and presentation clock were handed over by Mr Jack Sears (centre of picture), Ferrari Owners' Club Chairman. Also pictured (right) is Mr Peter Everingham, Club Secretary.
This year's event is a change of venue from the Haynes Motor Museum and is of course is in aid of the Jennifer Trust for Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
