Coast to Coast Cycle Ride |
Starting at Blackpool then Whitehaven, Cumbria to Tynemouth, Newcastle upon Tyne on 18th through 24th June 2000
Sunday 18th June 2000 Start Day
- Fun Day at ASDA Stores, Cherry Tree Road, Blackpool.
- 4pm Depart Blackpool for Whitehaven.
- Make Camp then hit the town for some fun and fundraising, shaking tins singing etc.
Monday 19th June 2000
- 9am Depart Whitehaven for Keswick Via Cleator Moor.
- 3pm Arrive Keswick. First collection on arrival, then to camp site.
- Evening hit the town for some more fun and fundraising, shaking tins singing etc.
Tuesday 20th June 2000 Families Day
- 10am Depart Keswick. Anyone who wants to join in for all of or part of the 25 miles to Penrith are very welcome, I am intending to tow Adam on his bike for the journey on this day, I will need lots of support.
- 3pm Arrive Penrith Town centre for more street collections.
- Continue on to Langwathby to make camp.
- Return in the evening for more fun and fundraising, shaking tins singing etc.
Wednesday 21st June 2000 Heartbreak Day
- 10am Depart Langwathby for the 500 metre climb up Hartside and then on to Nenthead and the highest point on the route at 609 metres.
- 6pm Arrive Allenheads. Set up camp at the Allenheads Inn for an evening of entertainment and BBQ laid on by Peter the Landlord.
Thursday 22nd June 2000
- 10am Depart Allenheads for Rowlands Gill near Stanley Via Consett.
This Part of the Journey hasn't been confirmed as we will be visiting the ASDA stores in the north east.
- 3pm Visit Stanley Store,
- Continue to Rowlands Gill.
- Make camp etc.
Friday 23rd June 2000 Bikes on the TyneStill looking for some help with this section of the trip.
- 10 am Depart Rowlands Gill to Gateshead Metro centre ASDA store,
- On to Boldon ASDA store,
- On to South Shields ASDA store,
- across the Tyne to finish at Tynemouth, hopefully at about 5pm.
- Friday Evening in Newcastle to relax.
Saturday 24th June 2000
- Back to Blackpool in the morning
We are also running a Raffle in store at ASDA, Blackpool.

Grand Balloon RaceReleased on Sunday 18th June 2000 Tickets were available from Ian Frickel at ASDA Blackpool: Price £1 each Ian looked to sell 5000, "so please be on standby I need some puff and a very big net to release then from".
The Prize was still not confirmed, hopefully . . . . No, I'm keeping this one quiet at the moment but it will be brill! |
