Your messages about Anita Macaulay, founder of the JTSMA, following news of her death on 11th May 2006.

My parents and I were extremely shocked and saddended to hear the news of Anita's death. Words cannot describe the depth of our saddness. She was a great person who inspired all of us, and she always welcomed new ideas and suggestions with a warm smile.I don't know what we would have done without her.

My most sincere condolences to stuart, her family, everyone in the Jennifer Trust and to everyone who is reading this message.

I am one of thousands who will remember you for ever.
Thank you Anita. Rest in peace.

I only worked for the Jennifer Trust for 9 months last year, but in that time, I was amazed at the energy commitment and zeal that Anita threw into life. Whatever it was, whether the JTSMA, her European work, her political life or her family, Anita put 125% into everything.

Everyone knew her and she knew everyone. She may not have had enough days in her life, but she had so much life in her days. If there is a heaven, then Anita will be there, and organising St Peter.

My heart goes out to her family, the staff and trustees of JTSMA, the families who she supported so well, and her fellow politicians and constituents. God Bless you Anita. May your work continue wherever you are.

It was a great shock to hear the passing of Anita, this wonderful lady will be sadly missed. I never met Anita but she was of great support to me and my husband when our daughter Sam passed away with SMA type 1. May you rest in peace Anita with your daughter.

I am so shocked and saddened by the news of the loss of Anita.  I know how much she has managed to raise the profile of SMA both regionally and internationally, she will never be forgotten.

My thoughts are with all her family and friends.

I was so saddened to hear the news about Anita.

I first met Anita when working at Contact a Family some 14 years ago and continued to have occassional ontact with her since then. In remembering Anita, the things that stand out were her pride in what she had achieved with the Jennifer Trust, her devotion to the families, her love for Stuart and her absolute enjoyment of life.

I feel very privileged to have known Anita.

Following the loss of Anita, my thoughts and sincere condolences are with Stuart, her family and the wider family of the Jennifer Trust.

Although sadly, Anita is no longer here to front the Jennifer Trust, I know, having been a part of the team for a brief period, that it will continue to support and encourage all those affected with renewed vigour.

I was very saddened to hear of Anita's death and my heart geos out to her family and all of the staff and trustees at JTSMA and also for the good work that she did in her lifetime for the trust and also for the work that will go on in the future in her name and also for the help she has given to parents and people who suffer from SMA because without the Jennifer Trust families would not have coped. To all our friends at the Jennifer Trust.

We are very sad to hear that Anita has died following a very sudden illness. Anita and the Jennifer Trust have been an inspiration to all of us at PPUK and to our families fighting for a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Anita inspired all of us in our worst moments to stop moaning and feeling sorry for ourselves and to take up the struggle for a better world.  For Anita that meant a cure for the terrible disease Spinal Muscular Atrophy that took the life of her own daughter. In my last conversation with Anita she told me she was going to stand as an MP with the aim of getting the funding we so desperately need to cure all neuromuscular diseases.  It's a great loss to the House of Commmons and our families that she never quite made it.  Our memory to her must be seeing an end to the heartbreak families have to bear following the diagnosis of diseases like SMA. Anita, we will continue that fight in your name.

Dear Family of Anita and Everyone at JTSMA,

This news was almost unbelievable - Anita was such a vigorous and joyful person! Anita went out of her way to visit and support us when we came to England (I now live abroad), I felt so immediately welcome in the JT and comforted by her personal attention despite the hundreds of people she comforted - I know I will always feel indebted - I hope to be able to support in any way I can.

She was such an inspiration to the entire organisation I hope we can all pool our strengths to keep her vision of working together until we do find a cure.

Anita will be in our prayers.

Condolences and kind regards,
Patryk, Agnieszka, Samantha (aged 2yr 6mths SMA II), Poland

We were so saddened to hear of Anita Macaulay's death. Like so many families we owe so much to the Jennifer Trust for their support and help, and without Anita it simply wouldn't exist. She was a truly inspirational woman whose warmth and strength of character will leave a lasting impression. We just wanted to say thank you.
Love Louise, Andy and Thomas Porter (Evie's family)

Shocked to hear about the death of Anita Maculay.

If it wasn't for her and the trust, I would never have gotten so much information and support on SMA.

Our thoughts are with her family and friends.

Anita was the first person I spoke to at the Jennifer Trust after our son was first diagnosed.  It was friday evening and Anita gave me her time and a lot of comfort plus for the first time hope and the realisation that we weren't alone.  We were shocked and saddened to read the email of Anita's death - we're very grateful for the work shes done and our prayers are with her family. xxx

Sending all our love to Anita's family & friends at the JTSMA at this very sad time.

Anita was a great inspiration to all of us affected by SMA.

She was our lifeline when we tragically lost our son "Joshua"in 1998. For this we are eternally gratefull.

God bless you Anita heaven is now a brighter place.
Love always Claire, Alan, Ryan & Ethan Fosbeary xxxx

Please pass our warmest wishes to Anita's family at this time - We pray for them as much as we pray for Anita.

What can possibly be said as a tribute to this lady? A person can only achieve immortality through their deeds - what we all remember and pass on. It is so easy to see Anita's legacy and impact through the messages on this board, and by the determination of the trustees to 'carry on till the goal is met'. We should all strive to leave this kind of legacy - Anita is a true example to us all!

We kept saying we would meet, and nearly did a couple of times... I am sure she and Cariad would have got on famously! We didnt want any help when Cariad was diagnosed and ill - but somehow the JTSMA found a way in and helped - for which we are so grateful.

Thanks Anita, you will be remembered wish fondness, thanks and love.

Jez, Dee and Cariad Howat xxx

To everyone in the Jennifer Trust family.
