Your messages about Anita Macaulay, founder of the JTSMA, following news of her death on 11th May 2006.
What a truly remarkable and powerful lady - you will be sadly missed xxx Dawn Wilbur
Very moving to read such lovely messages from everyone, I was so shocked, like everyone else, by the sad news of the Trust's loss.
But I can also take great strength from the fact that Anita opened so many doors for me and I have met so many good friends, many very close, almost like a second family and I think most people involved with SMA feel the same. I only every met Anita on a couple of occasions but her enthusiasm was always very clear and Im sure everyone will continue with help in achieving all her aims, no matter how great or small. She done so much for so many people when they must have felt their lives were over. People not involved with SMA may say why are you involved with the group - there is no need to answer that we just know in our hearts it's there and we need it, some link we all share and thanks to Anita she created that.
My love to all her family and all that were close to her. Joan Turner, Scotland
Anita had so much courage and so much tenacity to become the founder of the JTSMA. The trust is what kept her going. She was so determined to find a cure for SMA. Nothing and nobody would stop her from doing so. This is how she coped with the loss of her little girl. However, tragically as it may be, she has now found her little Jennifer in Heaven and this is what we want to be thankful for. She certainly would not want any of us to weep, but to carry on with her work where she left it.
Our sincere condoleances to her son and family.

We are very deeply shocked to hear about the sad loss of Anita, our thoughts are with her family and the JTSMA trust. Cheryl & Robert Leicester
Anita was a very special person who was so caring about affected families and passionate about curing SMA. She never failed to drive us scientists on and the progress we have made is in many ways is due to the commitment to SMA that Anita encouraged us to show. Over more than a decade she has been a colleague and a friend. Her legacy will result in a treatment of SMA one day and we will never forget her. Her family will remember her in many ways - she made a difference to so many lives. I shall never forget her smiling face and all those working with SMA will never forget what a difference she made. I am fortunate to have known and worked with her. Kay Davies
We were so stunned to learn of the sudden death of such a wonderful, respected person, Anita Macaulay. We have been associated with the Jennifer Trust for almost as long as it began and will never forget the tremendous support and help given to us as a family. You gave so much Anita. You will be forever in our thoughts.
Our love Sharon, Roy & Jemma Collins
We were greatly saddened and shocked to hear the sudden death of our beloved Anita, whom we first came in contact with in 1988 after Srinivas was diagnosed with SMA. She was a great source of inspiration and she made us feel that we were not alone and part of the SMA family. She was always pleasant and helpful to us and we always admired her dedication and help she gave to SMA families through JTSMA.
Our deepest sympathies to her family. Srin,Sudha and Rao Madipalli
We were shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Anita's sudden death, and all our sympathies are with her family and friends.
She leaves an incredible legacy of help and hope for others, and will never be forgotten.
We are grateful for all she did for us and for so many people affected by SMA. Sue & Steve Tansey
"My saviour came, it took the guise of J.T.S.M.A. "Anita helped me chase all thoughts of suicide away. She gave me hope to carry on and 'Get there in the end' And from the very start I knew I'd found a special friend."
Those of you who have read my poem might recognise this verse.
Anita Macaulay quite literally saved my life. She helped me through some terrible times, gave me hope and a reason to live and then became a very dear friend. My husband Vic and I, now have two fantastic daughters and for this we will be forever in her debt. In more recent years our paths have crossed less frequentlly but she was only ever a phone call away, (usually one that continued for hours). I know that the JTSMA will continue now in the safe and very capable hands of Heather and co. but no-one will ever be able to replace Anita. I will miss her with much sadness.
My heart goes out to her son Stuart, his Aunt and his Nan. All my love and sympathy, Helen Hearnshaw
Our deepest prayers go out to anita's family. My son has sma type l his name is James and he is now 21 months old and god bless anita for all she has done and all that still is to come. Sincerely Helene Armstrong and baby James and family
Having seen Anita last weekend being her usual energetic, caring, vibrant self, I was so shocked to hear of her death.
Anita was the first person I spoke to when I contacted the Jennifer Trust many years ago.Back then Anita worked from home, the way that the Trust has grown since then is all down to Anita's strength and determination.
I hope Stuart and Anita's family can get some comfort in the knowledge that Anita was so well loved and admired.
No-one will ever be able to take her place.
Jose & Derek Rogers

Another star to turn and smile to in the night sky...
All my thoughts and love are with Anita's son and family. I would not have survived without Anita and her Jennifer Trust and her energy, enthusiasm for life and care for others will stay with me till the day I die. Be at peace Anita with your beautiful Jennifer and know that we will all continue your fight and ensure that a cure is found for SMA. Emma Michel
Words cannot express the sadness I feel about the sudden death of Anita. When I saw her just a few days ago she was beaming with pride after just receiving yet another huge donation to the Jennifer Trust. Rest assured though, Anita, that we will do our best to ensure that the Jennifer Trust lives on and we will continue to provide "Help for today and Hope for Tomorrow".

We are so deeply sorry to hear the very sad news.
We met Anita for the 1st time last November at Stratford, such a lovely lady, who after going through the grief of losing her own daughter, went on and was able to support others walking the same path that she had previously walked.
A very brave and inspirational lady who will be missed by all who knew her.
But she is now with Jennifer and at peace.
Our love and thoughts are with all Anita's family and all at the trust offices. xx Heather and Peter Tingey
Anita was a remarkable person - someone with so much passion and determination to help anyone touched by SMA. Anita always impressed me with her ability to help so many people - giving them strength from her understanding and energy. If it wasn't for the JTSMA and the extended family that she created I wouldn't have achieved the things I have done in my life (with SMA II) - I owe a lot to her. The legacy of the JTSMA will not be forgotten and will continue in strength as Anita wanted at home in the UK and worldwide. My thoughts are with Anita's son, her family, JT staff, colleagues, friends and members of the JT.
Toby Mildon, London (JT Vice-Chair)
We were so shocked and upset to hear the news about Anita. We'd met a couple of times and Anita was such a friendly, supportive person, a true inspiration. Anita, through the Jennifer Trust gave us hope, and a determination to do all we could for its cause, after we'd lost our son Matthew to SMA Type 1 on 22.9.04. May Anita's work continue, so that her dream of a cure can be achieved. Our thoughts are with her family at this time, God bless Anita and Jennifer. Tracey Chad
All our thoughts to Anita's Family. She was a human with star and that star is going to shine for ever showing everyone that if a person has a vision everythig can come true. Emerald
We are so sorry to hear of the sudden passing of anita. it came as a shock to us that this wonderful woman has gone. Anita had so much to give and so much love for all that her death will touch all. we hope that where ever she is she will be re-united with her darling Jennifer and all the SMA children that are waiting for her. (as were sure our darling Charley Jaynne is for us). Our thoughts and prayers are with Anita's family and friends and love to you all. A truly insperational woman.
Rest in peace love
