Thank you for taking the time to visit this page in memory of Katie Green.
Katie left us suddenly and unexpectedly on 16th October 2008. She was funny, brave, clever and she put up with much more discomfort and inconvenience in her 7 years and 9 months than most of us have to bear in a life time into old age.
Katie had a severe form of Spinal Muscular Atrophy and although she was a wheelchair user from the age of 2 years and 2 months she never let this get in the way of having a good time, of dancing whenever music was playing, of loving all things pink and sparkly or involving Minnie Mouse and of filling our house with various and mostly unfinished craft projects.
She had many trips to various hospitals both as an in-patient and as an out-patient. Her cheeky smiled charmed and endeared her to just about everyone she met. However one of her nicknames was also grump-a-lump-green as sometimes her difficulties made her just too damned tired to smile - but you always knew a smile - and her distinctive cackling laugh - would never be far away.
The Jennifer Trust were there for us - Katie's family - from the day she was diagnosed. They were also there for us the night Katie died so suddenly and without warning. They have provided us with outings and parties, with conferences and information, with equipment ideas and with contact information. They have held our hands and guided us and quite frankly we could not have survived without them. Equally importantly the Jennifer Trust fund research into finding causes, treatments and hopefully also eventually a cure for this condition.
Any money donated on this page will go to supporting families affected by SMA.
We have also raised more than £4000 for East Anglian Childrens Hospice and £500 for the Screech Owl Sanctuary in Cornwall.
So please think of Katie on special days, anniversaries and birthdays - dig deep and donate now to the Jennifer Trust.
